Free for All: The Public Library- Film and Conversation

Thursday, June 5, 2025 (6:00 PM - 8:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

Free for All: The Public Library tells the story of the quiet revolutionaries who made a simple idea happen. From the pioneering women behind the “Free Library Movement” to today's librarians who service the public despite working in a contentious age of closures and book bans, meet those who created a civic institution where everything is free and the doors are open to all.

Join us at the library to watch the film, and then have a panel discussion about libraries featuring Ashley Miller, KPL Director, Cari Meissner KPL Adult Services Librarian, and Lindsey Carlson, KPL Board President, moderated by Clayton Sampson, KNIA/KRLS Knoxville News Director.

Free for All is a film from IndieLens. Knoxville Public Library is partnering with Indie Lens Pop-up and Iowa PBS.
